5 WAYS TO ENJOY THAT SKI TRIP IF YOU REALLY DON’T SKI
Fresh powder, crisp mountain air, a pocket full of lift tickets – oh, it’s going be a glorious ski weekend getaway. With just one catch: You really don’t ski. Well, just relax. Because here are some tips on how to enjoy yourself without even strapping up those boots.
GO FOR A RIDE
There’s no rule that says you can’t ride the ski lifts for fun. Heck, if you have those lift tickets, you might as well use them. Think of it as a round-trip sightseeing tour. And if you can, try to get stuck with that charming brunette halfway up … for conversational purposes, of course.
We’re talkin’ cocoa. Hot cocoa. The drink of the gods. It will keep you warm and your blood sugar levels just where they need to be. And if you still need a kick, don’t be afraid to “spice” it up a little at the bar. It’s cool, Larry the bartender won’t tell a soul.
MELT THE ICE
Try ice sculpture. Or even snow forts. Snowmen? They work, too. But making things out of ice/snow will get some fresh air in your lungs, and make you look like a real sweetie. Ask a passerby to borrow their beret for the snowman’s hat, and you’re in.
BE THE LIFE OF THE LODGE
The slopes may have the adventure, but the lodge is where the action happens. There are usually activities available, and we suggest signing up for all of them. Karaoke? Check. Team trivia? On it. Basket weaving? Why not. You’ll make more friends than you can shake a craft kit popsicle stick at.
ACTUALLY LEARN TO SKI
Yes, it might be a little humiliating to start on the bunny hill, but there’s no time like the present to start. Don’t worry about those hot-shots wooshing off to the Black Diamonds – just keep practicing your snow plow stops and stay on your feet. There’s an après-ski waiting, and plenty of friends from that basket weaving class who’ll want to hear all about it.
